Festivals in Full Swing: 

The Toronto Jazz Festival is happening as we go to print with a smattering of blues content, Saturday June 25: Jackie Richardson, Sunday June 26: Mike Nagoda & the Spectrum Blues Band, Tuesday June 28: Quisha Wint, Thursday June 30: Bywater Call, Thursday June 30: Red Hot Ramble and on Saturday July 2: Sandra Bouza. The festival winds down with the TBS Talent Search Finals on Saturday, July 2 at 3:15 on the TD Stage in the Festival Village in Yorkville with Camilo Restrepo, Garnetta & Dagroovmasters, Jim Dan Dee, Marcus Trummer, Shakey Trill and Tyler Wilson.

July has some Beaches Jazz events every week-end but the blues content narrows down to veteran Johnny Rawls & The Maple Blues Band on Saturday July 16 (5pm) and newcomers Bywater Call on Sunday July 24 (3pm) at Woodbine Park and some favourite local blues bands playing July 21,22 & 23 at the Streetfest (Blue Room, Jerome Tucker, Neil Chapman, Little Magic Sam and the Blackboard Blues Band).

Just up the road in Kitchener, the most blues you’ll hear in these parts will be August 4-7 with names like Miss Angel and The Homewreckers, Bywater Call, Lachy Doley, Harrison Kennedy, Matt Weidinger, Douglas Watson, Blackburn Brothers, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Coco Montoya, Samantha Fish, Erin McCallum, Zoom featuring Shawn Kellerman, Matchedash Parish, Whitehorse and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Lots more great blues in Ottawa (July 7-17) and Quebec with events in Sherbrooke ( July 2-9), Mont Tremblant (July 14-17) and Donnacona (August 3-7) for those willing to make the trek (I’m talking to you, Blues Mamas).
