The Toronto Blues Society will be presenting the best in local blues talent the first Thursday of each month at The Melody Bar in The Gladstone Hotel. There will be no cover charge and each performance will begin at 8pm. Upcoming performances include: Diana Braithwaite & Chris Whiteley (Nov 4, pictured), and Harrison Kennedy (Dec 2). http://www.gladstonehotel.com

Women’s Blues RevueThe 24th annual Women’s Blues Revue takes place Saturday November 27 at Massey Hall. Member discount details are available by contacting the office. The singers this year are Kellylee Evans (pictured), Alana Bridgewater, Little Miss Higgins, Robin Banks, Rita Chiarelli and Alejandra Ribera! This year, the band will be led by Donna Grantis (guitar), and features Brandi Disterheft (bass), Lindsay Beaver (drums), Lily Sazz (keys), Colleen Allen (sax), Carrie Chestnutt (sax) and Rebecca Hennessy (trumpet). Ontario Council of Folk Festivals

The Ontario Conference of Folk Festivals takes places October 14-17. The Blues Showcase will highlight the best of the blues on Thursday Oct 14 at 9pm, and features Alfie Smith, Lance Anderson, Diana Braithwaite and Chris Whiteley and Harrison Kennedy. OCFF will be featuring a spotlight on blues music this year! The Blues Roots and Branches workshop takes place Friday Oct 15 at 4pm. The artists performing are Doug Cox, Harrison Kennedy, and Diana Braithwaite and Chris Whiteley. www.ocff.ca

To submit an application to showcase The Blues Summit Five happening at the Delta Chelsea Hotel Jan 15-17, please go to www.sonicbids.com/bluessummitfive, or send a CD with a one page bio sheet, photo and $10 handling fee. Performances take place at the Market Garden Cafe and Monarchs Lounge on January 15 and 16 and will be attended by festival artistic directors and delegates from across the Canada and around the blues world.
