Irene Torres & The Sugar Devils Win the Talent SearchCongrats to Irene Torres & The Sugar Devils (pictured) on winning the TBS Talent Search! They will receive a prize package that includes a showcase opportunity at the Blues Summit Six, performances at theSouthside Shuffle and Delta Chelsea Monarchs Pub, recording time at Revolution Recording, a photo shoot with Bill King, and mentoring sessions with industry professionals. Congratulations to the other finalists as well: Robbie Antone’s Blues Machine (runner up), Amanda Davids, Ambre McLean, Carolyn Fe Blues Collective, and Tim Bastmeyer. |
TBS IBC Showdown – This MondayThe International Blues Challenge takes place in Memphis January29-February 2, 2013 and the Toronto Blues Society is hosting a competition to see who will represent Toronto blues at the event. There are two categories that can be represented: solo/duo and band. Judging will take place during a free to the public event at the Delta Chelsea Monarchs Pub on Monday August 20, 9pm. The competing performers are Suzie Vinnick (solo), Steve Strongman (solo, pictured), Shrimp Daddy(band) and Paul Reddick (band). |

The bi-annual conference at the Delta Chelsea Hotel brings together blues industry from around Canada and beyond. A major component of the conference is the showcase portion which allows artists to perform in front of talent buyers. Note that artists may not showcase in consecutive Summit years.
