Gladstone Hotel First Thursday: Steve Dawson – Free AdmissionThe Toronto Blues Society presents the best in local blues talent the first Thursday of each month at The Melody Bar in The Gladstone Hotel. There is no cover charge and each performance begins at 8:30pm. The next performance is tonight and features the mastermind of Black Hen records, producer, guitarist and songwriter, Vancouver based Steve Dawson (pictured). Harmonica WorkshopHosted by Maple Blues Award winner Paul Reddick, this year’s harmonica workshop is on Sat April 9 at Dominion on Queen (500 Queen St E). The workshop will run from 2pm-6pm and will cost $10 for members / $12 for public. The backup band consists of Bucky Berger on drums, James Rasmussen on bass, and Teddy Leonard on guitar with guest artists Ken Yoshioka, Al Lerman (pictured) and Howard Willett. Blues Talent Search Submissions AnnouncementThe date for the Toronto Blues Society Talent Search is set for August 18 at Nathan Phillips Square! If you are a local blues musician/band, submit to become one of six performing finalists through either Sonicbids or by mailing a bio, photo, CD and cheque for $10 to the TBS office. |
