Women’s Blues Revue Live CD Launch

The Toronto Blues Society will officially launch its Women’s Blues Revue Live CD on June 13 at the Now Lounge. The compilation CD featuring performances recorded live by CBC over the past fifteen years was released in November 2006 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of the Toronto Blues Society’s signature events.

The CD includes 15 tracks by the leading women of Canadian Blues including Rita Chiarelli, Roxanne Potvin, Alana Bridgewater, Diana Braithwaite, Sue Foley, Georgette Fry, Divine Brown, Ellen McIlwaine, Molly Johnson, Jackie Richardson, Lee Aaron, Suzie Vinnick, Suzie McNeil, Serena Ryder, and Dawn Tyler Watson.

The evening will also celebrate the achievements of Lily Sazz who is moving on from the position of Women’s Blues Revue band leader after 10 years. (She is continuing as keyboard player in the band.) Lily will perform with Women’s Blues Revue Band members Marg Stowe, Michelle Josef, and Suzie Vinnick. The performance will also be a symbolic passing of the torch as Suzie takes over as band leader for this year’s concert on December 1st at Massey Hall.
