Gladstone Series: Jimmy Bowskill Tonight!

The Toronto Blues Society presents the best in blues talent the first Thursday of each month at The Melody Bar in The Gladstone Hotel. There is no cover charge and food service is offered in the Melody Bar. Don’t miss tonight’s performance featuring Jimmy Bowskill solo (pictured). Please note the shows now begin at 9pm.

John Hiatt Ticket Discount

On Wednesday, October 12th at 7:30pm, legends John Hiatt & The Combo (pictured) will be performing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in support of his latest album Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns. He will also be performing Thursday, October 13th at the Chrysalids Theatre in Kitchener, ON. TBS Charter Members are being offered a $20 discount for these shows with no service charge. TBS at Ontario Council of Folk Festivals Conference

The Toronto Blues Society will be hosting a showcase at OCFF on Thurs Oct 13, featuring performances by 2011 Talent Search winner Bradleyboy Mac Arthur (pictured), 2010 Talent Search winners The 24th Street Wailers, Suzie Vinnick, Richard Henderson, and Tracy K.  The OCFF brings together the folk music community in a weekend of conference sessions and live performances. This year, the conference takes place in Niagara Falls, and more information can be found at www.ocff.ca

Mark Your Calendars for the Toronto Blues Society Christmas Party!

This year’s Toronto Blues Society Christmas Party will take place at The Delta Chelsea Hotel Monarchs Pub on Sat Dec 10, and will feature a performance by Maple Blues Award winner Robin Banks (pictured)! Watch this space for more details as the date draws closer.

25th Annual Women’s Blues Revue

The 25th annual Toronto Blues Society Women’s Blues Revue will take place at the historic Massey Hall on Saturday November 26. The featured artists this year are: Kat Danser, Ada Lee, Emma-Lee, Treasa Levasseur (pictured), Shakura S’Aida, and Suzie Vinnick!

The band will feature band leader Donna Grantis (guitar), Lily Sazz (keyboards), Brandi Disterheft (bass), Lindsay Beaver (drums), Colleen Allen (sax), Carrie Chesnutt (sax) and Rebecca Hennessy (trumpet).

Maple Blues Awards

The hosts for the 15th annual Toronto Blues Society Maple Blues Awards are Treasa Levasseur and Shakura S’Aida (pictured)! For a third consecutive year, the award show takes place in Koerner Hall on Monday, January 16, 2012. The gala event celebrates Canadian blues featuring the finest musicians and special guests from across Canada, all backed by the Maple Blues Band.

Fraser Finlayson Tribute

Fans, friends, family, and musicians will celebrate the life of Fraser Finlayson (pictured) at Hugh’s Room on Tues Nov 15. The event is in support of the Finlayson Library at the Vancouver National Centre, and will feature performances by FATHEAD, Morgan Davis, Carlos del Junco, Ray Harrison, and The Mr. Hot Pants Band. Doors at 6pm; Show at 8:30pm.
