Women’s Blues Revue – Next Saturday – Get Your Tickets Now

Hosted by CBC’s Garvia Bailey, the 26th Annual Toronto Blues Society Women’s Blues Revue features Saidah Baba TalibahTanika CharlesKellylee EvansAngel Forrest, Sabrina Weeks (pictured), and Sacha Williamson! The event will take place at Massey Hall on Saturday November 24. The vocalists will be backed up by the all-female Women’s Blues Revue Band featuring Donna Grantis (Musical Director, Guitar), Suzie Vinnick (Guitar), Lily Sazz (Keys), Brandi Disterheft (Upright Bass), Lindsay Beaver (Drums), Colleen Allen (Sax), Carrie Chesnutt (Sax), and Rebecca Hennessy (Trumpet).

Tickets are on sale now through the Massey Hall Box Office! The Charter Member only discount is on right now, call the office to get the code! Public tickets can be purchased here.

A pre-show performance for the Share the Music Program will see Diana Braithwaite & Chris Whiteley perform for 150 students.

November is Guitar month on CBC Radio Two! There will be one show this month featuring Women’s Blues Revue musicians Donna Grantis and Suzie Vinnick as well as Christine Bougie. Canada Live will air the seven song session on Wednesday November 28, and the session will be put up on cbcmusic.ca for an intimate and up close look at the players in action.

The nominees for the Maple Blues Awards are selected by a distinguished panel of 47 blues experts headed by the steering committee consisting of Deborah Cartmer (CFBU, St. Catharines), Yves Trottier (DAWG FM, Ottawa), Paul Norton (CFRO / CITR, Vancouver), and Gord MacAulay (Canadian Blues Alliance, Saskatoon). The panel includes radio hosts, journalists, and festival organizers regionally distributed across Canada.

Maple Blues Awards

The Maple Blues Awards returns to beautiful Koerner Hall to honour the best in Canadian blues. Hosted by Raoul Bhaneja, the awards show will take place on Monday January 21, 7pm. This is the blues show of the year featuring live musical performances by Carlos del Junco (ON), Matt Minglewood (NS, pictured), Steve Strongman (ON), The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer (BC),Suzie Vinnick (SK/ON), Nanette Workman (QC) and the Maple Blues Band!

Blues Summit 6

Register now for the most important blues conference in Canada, Blues Summit 6. This biennial event brings together artists, festival directors, media, labels, managers, agents and other blues industry with both a showcase and a conference component.

Blues Summit 6 takes place at The Delta Chelsea Hotel (33 Gerrard St W)January 18-21, 2013. The keynote speaker for this edition of the conference is CBC/Stony Plain’s Holger Petersen. The weekend culminates with the Maple Blues Awards on January 21, which is ticketed separately through the Koerner Hall Box Office.

Christmas Party & AGM

The TBS Christmas Party will take place this year on Saturday December 8 at the Delta Chelsea Monarchs Pub. Don’t miss a thunderous performance by theCameo Blues Band at 9pm. The Annual General Meeting is open to all Toronto Blues Society members and will be held prior to the party in The Gerrard Room in the hotel at 7pm.

TBS Gladstone Series

The Toronto Blues Society presents the best in blues talent the first Thursday of each month at the Melody Bar in The Gladstone Hotel. Performances are free to the public and begin at 9pm. Stop on by for an intimate solo acoustic performance from Harrison Kennedy(pictured) on Thursday December 6.
