Something New is a very appropriate title as Michael Kaeshammer shows himself to be a very good practitioner and composer of New Orleans pop & jazz but he has a number of guests that you know and enough blues to include it here. The opening “Scenic Route” surprises with a boogie piano break among its jazzy sections. The uplifting “Do You Believe?” is a big band pop tune with Alligator bluesman Curtis Salgado doing very well on vocals and harmonica. “She’s Gone” was the first single, a very attractive NO-style blues with Jim Byrnes taking the vocal and featuring Amos Garrett’s tell tale string bending. Chuck Leavell adds his keyboards to the blend. Colin James joins Kaeshammer on vocals for “Who Are You”, another exciting big band blues with Kaeshammer on electric piano and both Randy Bachman & James soloing. He debuted the new music on a live broadcast on JAZZ-FM on April 20th, www.michaelkaeshammer.com shows much touring but not here.
