Powerhouse vocalist Shakura S'Aida will be a guest performer at the 12th Annual Maple Blues Awards gala being held at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on Monday, January 19, 2009.
The Blues Summit IV is a three-day conference creating opportunity for the blues community to personally connect with key leaders in the industry, and attend professional development seminars, working meetings, and showcase concerts.
There will be Information Seminars and professional development sessions for musicians covering topics like Grant Writing: The Art of the Grant, Digital Delivery: Online Gigging, Blues in the Schools, and Recording Tips and Techniques. Industry sessions will include International Touring, The Digital Marketplace, Festival Roundtable, Blues Societies, and Media Roundtable.
The SOCAN Songs & Stories will take place Sunday, January 18th, 5:30-7pm featuring Suzie Vinnick, Amost Garrett, Ray Bonneville, and Matt Anderson.
The Blues Summit will be the gathering place for many blues movers and shakers from canada, U.S.A.and beyond including Chip Eagle (Blues Revue), Jean Guillermo (Blues Sur Seine), Jostein Forsberg (Nottoden Blues Fest), Ben Manilla (House of Blues Radio Hour), Darcy Gregoire (The Agency Group), Richard Flohil (Flohil & Associates), Danny Marks (Bluz FM), Jacques Noel (FestiBlues International de Montreal), Jay Sieleman (The Blues Foundation), Jeff Davis (Playing With Fire), Chuck Jackson (Southside Shuffle), Larry Kurtz (Orangeville Jazz and Blues Fest), and Paul Northcott (Twisted Pines Music and Arts).
