Toronto, ON October 27, 2004
Women of the blues will belt, growl, and croon their way into the hearts of audiences at The Toronto Blues Society’s Women’s Blues Revue, Saturday, November 27, 2004, 8 p.m. at Massey Hall. The Toronto Blues Society’s crown jewel event features powerful emerging and established women in the business today, all from diverse backgrounds, and all performing blues in a wide range of styles. This year’s lineup includes Jackie Richardson, Sue Foley, Rita Chiarelli, Dawn Tyler Watson, Serena Ryder and Ndidi Onukwulu.

Throughout the years, this popular bluesy showcase has routinely sold-out to capacity audiences. It has also launched the careers of women like Amanda Marshall, Rita Chiarelli and Holly Cole, and featured others like Shirley Eikhard (who penned the monster hit Something To Talk About), Sue Foley, and Salome Bey, and has included unusual artists like Lee Aaron and Carole Pope.

This year marks a very special year, as the Revue moves to Massey Hall after outgrowing several venues. Once again CBC Radio One’s Saturday Night Blues, with host Holger Peterson, is recording the entire evening’s performances, which will be featured throughout the coming year. Also from CBC, Shelagh Rogers of Sounds Like Canada returns as MC.
As always, the headliners are backed by an all-star cast featuring Women’s Blues Revue musical director Lily Sazz on keyboards; Margaret Stowe on guitar; Suzie Vinnick on bass; Michelle Josef on drums; Colleen Allen and Carrie Chesnutt on sax; and Sarah McElcheran on trumpet.

Co-presented with The Toronto Blues Society.
