SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND

 

PANEL | MICRO PENNIES FROM HEAVEN: What is happening with streaming royalties?  If music fans stop buying physical CDs, they are not supporting artists like the “good old days”.  Learn the back story about revenue streams and where we are going in the coming years.  Suzie Vinnick (moderator), Murray Foster, Bonnie Fedrau.  Sat Feb 2, Alexander C, 11am-Noon. FORUM | BLUES SOCIETY ROUNDTABLE: This session is open to all blues societies from across Canada who are in attendance.  The panel is dedicated to sharing information on programming, education and advocacy from all the regions of the country including Hornby Island, Saskatoon, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. Sat Feb 2, Spadina Room, 11am-Noon.

 

PANEL | GOVERNMENT AND OTHER GRANTS: Learn the latest from a variety of funding organiztions, their insights and details on support for artists and organizers.  Christy Defelice (Toronto Arts Council), Pierre-Louis Pinel (Canada Council), Sharla Bryan (FACTOR), Noah Gruneir (Ontario Creates). PANEL | VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR: In the meantime, blues musicians are making a wide variety of videos for Youtube, Vimeo and career promotion.  Learn why there is a plan to introduce the Sapphire Award for best Video from Son Roberts (moderator), Amanada Rheaume, Mako Funasaka, and Gavin McLeod.
