Al Lerman Hosts Toronto Blues Society’s Harmonica Workshop, April 14

The Toronto Blues Society will hold a special workshop for harmonica players and blues fans on Saturday afternoon, April 14 at the Silver Dollar Room

(486 Spadina Ave., Toronto).

The event will be hosted for the by Fathead band leader Al Lerman and is designed to include both novice and seasoned players in an informative dialogue that addresses harmonica tone, sound and style. Lerman is a journeyman musician who plays with sizzle and a whole lot of soul. He¹s won several Maple Blues Award nominations for both his harp and sax playing, as well as his songwriting. He’s also the leader of the popular Juno Award winning blues outfit Fathead. As a sideman and occasional producer, he has appeared on several recordings with the likes of famed Chicago bluesmen Willie ‘Big Eyes’ Smith and Little Mack Simmons, as well as solid contributions to discs by The Whiteley Brothers, Rick Fines, Mel Brown, Julian Fauth, Rita Chiarelli, and Morgan Davis. Recognized as one of the country’s premier harp players, Al has been heavily involved in passing on the craft thru workshops and his night classes offered at the Etobicoke School Of The Arts.

Al will be joined on stage by some of the most adventurous and inventive blues harp players in the country including David Rotundo, Paul Reddick, Mike Stevens, and Roly Platt.

The Harmonica Workshop is one of the most popular events in the Toronto Blues Society’s ongoing programme. It is made possible by the generous support of the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Ontario Arts Council, the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council, Wilson Music Services, Hohner, and Lee Oscar Harmonicas.
