Blues in the Garden

The free annual Blues in the Garden art display and live blues performance takes place 2pm-5pm during the Queen West Art Crawl on Sunday September 22. There will be a performance by 2013 TBS Talent Search winner Sugar Brown (pictured), as well as bbq (dietary options available) and beverages available for purchase, including Dan Aykroyd Wines.

Temporary Foreign Worker Program Changes

The process of obtaining HRSDC Labour Market Opinions for temporary foreign workers coming to Canada has changed. Establishments whose primary income is not performance related, must now pay a non-refundable $275 processing fee for their application to hire each foreign artist in addition to a $150 fee per musician (capping at $450). The new fee does not apply for artists who are union members in good standing. Learn more by visiting the Canadian government’s explanation of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program

Gladstone Hotel Series

The Toronto Blues Society presents the best in blues talent the first Thursday of each month at the Melody Bar in The Gladstone Hotel. Performances are free to the public, begin at 9pm, and the Gladstone has an excellent menu if you arrive for the show early! Multi-Juno Award nominee and international touring bluesman Michael Pickett (pictured) performs on Thursday October 3.

Mark your calendars for upcoming TBS Gladstone series shows including Jimmy Bowskill solo (Nov 7) and Jake Chisholm (Dec 5). http://www.gladstonehotel.com
